M1.4 Blog Assignment: List of Environmental Exposures

M1.4 Blog Assignment: List of Environmental Exposures

On Thursday August 23, 2018 class in groups we came up with a list of environmental exposures from home, schools workplaces and the community. I was surprised to hear how many chemical exposures we are exposed too thru the most simplest of things. For example, it was mentioned that chemicals found in pesticides are being found in children's cereals. That is quite scary! I currently work in a hospital where we are exposed to many chemicals. I am very observant of what is around me. Recently my co-worker installed an enormous printer which now causes me to debate whether or not this machine is emitting chemicals into the air and when I in-hail will it cause an illness in the long run? Even before taking this class I barely put much thought into the chemicals that I am surrounded by on a daily basis. From attending one class and reading all the chemical exposures my fellow classmates came up with, now has me thinking more outside the box on what I am surrounded by.

  1. Hi Christina,
I remember the discussion about pesticides in children's cereal. My mother is really interested in this topic and sent me that article a few weeks ago. Apparently it's in a lot of oats too! Interesting observation about the printer. I also work near a printer and have never thought about all of the chemicals it could be emitting. It seems like this class will make us much more aware!
